Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune, a.k.a. The Beer Chicks, met while working at the famed beer bar Father’s Office in Santa Monica, CA. From there they became fast friends, sharing a passion for the world’s most beloved alcoholic beverage: beer.
From behind the bar they noticed that most of the public (especially women) were largely misinformed about beer. Although a little bias, they believed that women often had superior palates in terms of artisanal beverages, and they ran with it. Christina and Hallie wanted to arm women with proper beer knowledge and welcome the female palates into the male-dominated beer world.
They decided to answer questions, and break the cycle of bad beer myths by writing a book. The Naked Pint: An Unadulterated Guide To Craft Beer offers beer basics for neophytes as well as descriptions of lesser known beer styles, beer and food pairing tips, directions for homebrewing, and recipes for cooking with beer.
Christina and Hallie now write about beer on their website thebeerchicks.com, and are working on a second book dedicated to the art of homebrewing. They also work as consultants for restaurants and bars, teach beer classes, throw beer-tasting events, and appear on TV and radio spreading the good word of craft beer to the masses.
The chicks are determined to bring the appreciation of craft beer to the level reserved for wine and cocktails. And to taste every great craft beer in the world … after all you have to have a goal.
